SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The wet and rainy conditions didn't put much of a damper on the RV Oregon Tech Lady Owls in the opening round of the 2023 Warrior Fall Invitational, as OIT shot 319 as a team to lead the Cascade Collegiate Conference field as the first day comes to a close at the Pine Ridge Golf Club.

Oregon Tech was led by not one but two of their student-athletes, as Quincy Beyrouty and Madie Hepner finished with identical 77 scores (+5) to finish in a two-way tie for second place through the first round. Teammates Maiya Baker and Zayda Mestas rounded out the top-four team scores for OIT with a 79 and 86, respectively.
The No. 1-ranked University of British Columbia program (322) was only three strokes behind the RV Owls, with Abigail Chow leading not only the team but the field with a first round score of 76 (+4). Emily Li and Bo Brown each turned in 80 (+8) scorecards to tie for ninth overall, while Coco Pei finished in a two-way tie for eighteenth with an 86 (+14).
No. 25-ranked Lewis-Clark State College (327) finished five strokes behind UBC to round out a convincing top three squads. Individually, Kyla Currie was the team leader for LC State with an opening round of 79 (+7) for a five-way fourth place tie, with teammate Deana Caruso right behind at 80 (+8) alongside the Thunderbirds' Li and Brown. Natalia Gomez and Dallis Shockey scored 83 (+11) and 85 (+13) to close out the LCSC first round team scores.
Southern Oregon University (344) kicked off the back half of the Warrior Fall Invite cemented in fourth place as a program, seventeen strokes behind LC State and eighteen ahead of Walla Walla University. Kiera Cheng and Haley Brown finished the first half of the tourney in twelfth and thirteenth with rounds of 81 (+9) and 82 (+10), respectively, while Camryn Schaper at 89 (+17) and Carley Streitler at 92 (+20) finished the team score side for the Raiders.
The Wolves (372) were powered to the end of day one by Cameron Spellman with a 79 (+7) to sit in the traffic jam at fourth overall, followed by Aspen Smokey's 84 (+12), Hailey Werner's 98 (+26), and Raegan Boyse's 111 (+39).
The rain was none too kind to the tournament host Corban University Warriors (456), as senior Kristin Senatra had the best day for the Navy and Gold with an 85 (+13), while the rest of the squad fought an uphill battle with final score additions coming from freshmen Olivia Wyatt's 118 (+46), Amerika Jones' 121 (+49), and Sophia Barbosa's 132 (+60).
The College of Idaho and Bushnell University each sent individual golfers this week but didn't qualify for the team score without the minimum number of golfers. The Yotes' best showing came from Kaylee Jones and her 79 (+7) for a top five finish through eighteen holes, while the Beacons' Analise Aubin completed a 98 (+26) for the local program.
Day and round two of the 2023 Warrior Fall Invitational are set to begin tomorrow morning at 8:30am back at the Pine Ridge Golf Club.
