CORVALLIS, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State College Men’s Basketball fired up the courts with two huge home sweeps. The team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Jan. 8 – 14, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
LC State went into a big home weekend with two tough CCC match ups. The Warriors currently sit tied at the top of the Cascade Conference standings with No. 5 College of Idaho. They faced Southern Oregon University on Friday and No. 24 Oregon Tech on Saturday, both teams are currently tied for second place in the CCC.
In Friday’s game, LC State shot 57.4 percent from the field while keeping Southern Oregon to a 36.5 field-goal percentage. For the Warriors, every single player scored while they made 31 of their 54 field goals. LCSC outrebounded SOU 40-24, and saw its largest lead of 24 points in the second half. John Lustig and Quentin Raynor each made a game-high of 15 points while Alton Hamilton and Davian Brown added 12 each. Hamilton led all defenders with nine rebounds total. The final score was 75-58.
The next day, LC State upset Oregon Tech with a final score of 87-75. LCSC shot 52.6% percent from the field, drained nine 3-pointers, and tallied 18-of-21 free throws. The team also forced eight steals and made 20 points off turnovers while never giving up the lead. Brown led the Warriors with 19 points and made all seven of his free throws. Jaedon Bradley drained 17 points while Lustig collected 16 points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block. Hamilton led all defenders again with five rebounds.
LC state handed SOU and OIT its second CCC losses. The teams will face again when the Warriors head down south for the last Cascade Conference games of the season on February 23-24.
Next weekend, Lewis-Clark State will travel to Portland, Ore., to face Warner Pacific University and Multnomah for the first time this season.
