CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has announced Peyton Slaga of Warner Pacific University as the CCC representative for the NAIA Governance and Leadership Academy (GLA). The Third Annual Event will be held on April 4th, 2024 at Park University in Missouri.
The GLA provides training on NAIA governance and strategic initiatives to minority and female athletics administrators. The GLA introduces participants to NAIA committee work and service while enhancing their leadership acumen. Any person that is in a working capacity within the athletics department, regardless of title, and is a minority or female can be nominated by their institution and selected by their conference to attend.
“The conference is thrilled to extend this opportunity to Peyton Slaga," stated commissioner Robert Cashell. "The nomination, as well as her submitted materials, very much highlighted her desire to continue learning and developing her skill set to advance in the industry of sports administration.”
Warner Pacific Athletic Director Matt Gregg nominated Slaga for this opportunity. He noted, “Her open and transparent communication style fosters positive working relationships that greatly contribute to overall success. She will excel in any role within the athletic administration domain.”
Slaga lives in Happy Valley, Ore., and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Warner Pacific in May 2023. She currently serves as the Athletic Administrative Assistant for the WPU athletic department. Her roles include assisting in department operations and overseeing multiple tasks including goals, schedules, and budgeting.
“Attending the Academy is a great opportunity for my current skill sets, experiences, passions, and career goals. I value this opportunity and I am looking forward to being in the same room as leaders who I can learn from,” Slaga responded when informed about her attendance selection.
Slaga’s apparent dedication and professionalism will help advance not only the Warner Pacific athletic department but the Cascade Conference as a whole. The Academy will allow her to do this through innovative and relevant learning provided by top NAIA staff.
