LEWISTON, Idaho – Three Warriors ran a personal-best time and the No. 9 LC State Men's Cross Country squad bested groups from Washington State and Montana on Saturday at the LC State Invitational. The race closed out the regular season for the Warrior men and served as the final home race for five seniors.
"The men were almost two minutes faster as a team than a year ago," Head Coach Mike Collins explained. "Another dynamic group within our top 10 shows our depth. It's going to make it very challenging to determine both conference and national teams with the guys running this well and working hard to get better."
The LC State men placed fifth overall with six runners under the 26:00 mark. Carter Gordon led the way in 19
th place with a time of 24:49. Kobe Wessels edged Griffen Parsells with a fraction of second separating the two. Wessels was 28
th and Parsells with 29
th with both running at the 25:05 mark. Less than a second was between the two with Parsells running a PR to do so.
Conner May was the fourth Warrior to cross the line and placed 31
st (25:10). Alexander Fry ran a personal-best time of 25:21 to take 35
th and Cooper Carlson was 52
nd with his first sub-26:00 time of 25:55.
Junior Connor Alexander placed 57
th (26:09), Clay Shumaker was 59
th (26:20), Keith Uitdewilligen finished 61
st (26:21) and Ben Vernon was 62
nd (26:24). Tristin O'Brien was 65
th (26:35), Samuel Iversen finished 73
rd (27:02), Manuel Valdez placed 77
th (28:12), Jace Joslyn was 78
th (28:15) and Jacob Adams finished 79
th (28:22).
Eastern Washington won the NCAA Division I-heavy meet and LC State placed ahead of groups from DI programs Washington State and Montana.
UP NEXT
With the regular season in the rearview, the Warriors turn their attention to the Cascade Conference Championships. The conference meet is set for Nov. 8 in Portland.
