CORVALLIS, Ore. – Southern Oregon University was chosen to win the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship as the CCC released the 2025 Softball Preseason Poll on Tuesday.
Southern Oregon claimed six first-place votes and 85 total points to land atop the coaches poll. Last season they were the runner up at the CCC softball championship and earned an at-large bid to the NAIA Championship Tournament. After falling at the final site of the NAIA World Series, the Raiders ended the 2024 campaign with a 41-19 overall record.
Oregon Tech was separated by a point and received three first-place votes to sit second in the poll. OIT advanced to the National Tournament after winning the 2024 CCC regular season title. The Owls made it the farthest out of all conference teams before being eliminated in the fourth game at the NAIA World Series, completing its season with a 49-12 overall record.
College of Idaho was given 72 points and one first-place vote of its own for a third-place ranking. Last season, the Yotes got an at-large bid to the NAIA Tournament before losing in the opening round, finishing its season with a 32-19 overall record.
Eastern Oregon University followed behind by just one point. The Mounties had an incredible year and stunned the competition by defeating SOU 5-4 in the 2024 CCC Championship Tournament, presented by U.S Bank, to claim the conference’s second AQ. The Mounties fell in the opening round of the NAIA Tournament, ending the year with a 39-10 overall record.
University of British Columbia rounded out the top five with 55 points in arguably the toughest softball conference in the NAIA. Carroll College was next with 52 points while Bushnell University secured 43 points for a seventh place ranking.
Warner Pacific University (29 points), University of Providence (28 points), and Corban University (21 points) rounded out the poll in the eight through tenth spots, respectively.
The 2025 CCC Softball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, is set for May 2-5. The tournament will be hosted by the regular season champion, who will earn the conference’s first AQ with the tournament champion receiving the second AQ to the NAIA Softball National Championship.
