KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Casey Ruvolo of No. 24-ranked Southern Oregon University has been named the NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. He was selected based on his performances from September 30 - October 6 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.
Ruvolo, a junior goalkeeper from New River, Ariz., led Southern Oregon (8-2-1, 5-0-1 CCC) to two 1-0 victories against Eastern Oregon University and (RV) College of Idaho. He played full time in the net during both shutouts, completing nine saves. His efforts were highlighted by a late PK save against EOU and being the first goalkeeper to shutout C of I in the last 27 games.
Next up, the Raiders are set to play Rocky Mountain College and Walla Walla University this weekend.
