PORTLAND, Ore., – Yet another terrific championship led the No. 6-ranked College of Idaho to earn its sixth consecutive Cascade Collegiate Conference title at the CCC Women's Cross Country Championship, presented by U.S. Bank.
The Yotes cruised through the competition, collecting a team score of 25. Kahea Figueira claimed her first ever individual championship conference crown at Rose City Golf Course, finishing the 6K course in 21 minutes 53.85 seconds. Teammates Kylee Quinton (22:23.20) and Julia Gilbert (22:29.99) finished right behind in the third and fourth spot.
C of I continued to stack the leaderboard, adding four more All-CCC runners with Kimbrie Knudsen (23:00.88) in eighth-place, Molly Connor (23:01.26) in ninth, Larissa Mauer (23:19.39) in 12th and Sarah Bolin (23:19.92) in 13th. In his third season, head coach Dominic Bolin was voted the CCC Women's Coach of the Year for the third year.
Alyssa Johnson had an incredible race for No. 10-ranked Southern Oregon, finishing as the runner-up with a time of 22:13.32 while teammate Fiona Fraser (22:40.35) rounded out the top five. Cammeo Ramirez (22:56.14) also earned All-Conference honors for the Raiders in seventh place, helping lead SOU to a third-place team finish.
No. 18-ranked Lewis-Clark State secured second place as a team and were led by sixth-place Damaris Kibiwot (22:43.00) and Camille Ussher (23:29.45) who rounded out the All-CCC honorees in 15th place.
Other runners who reached all-conference status include Kaitlin Cook (23:12.88) of Bushnell, Gabrielle Metzger (23:15.03) of Multnomah, and Mattie Woodbury (23:20.48) of (RV) Eastern Oregon, reaching 10th, 11th, and 14th on the leaderboard, respectively.
College of Idaho earned an automatic berth in the NAIA Championships, which will take place in Columbia, Missouri, on Nov. 22. The rest of the field, including at-large bids, will be announced next week.
