CCC Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following six CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for their performances during competition from December 9 – 15, 2024.

Men’s Basketball – Defensive
(RV) Oregon Tech’s Jamison Guerra was named the CCC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.

Guerra, a senior guard from Sherwood, Ore., helped the Owls defeat Southern Oregon University 97-94 in double overtime. He tallied seven rebounds, four steals, and 10 assists on top of 19 points in 45 total minutes played.

Men’s Basketball – Offensive
(RV) Oregon Tech’s Kam Osborn was named the CCC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.

Osborn, a senior guard from Vancouver, Wash., led the Owls to victory over Southern Oregon. He shot 53.8 percent from the field with 26 points, making 9-of-10 free throws in 38 total minutes played.

Women’s Basketball – Defensive
No. 4 Southern Oregon University’s Emma Schmerbach was named the CCC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.

Schmerbach, a senior guard from Medford, Ore., helped the Raiders to a 65-58 victory over (RV) Oregon Tech. She recorded seven rebounds, three blocks, three assists, and a steal on top of 13 points in 32 total minutes played.

Women’s Basketball – Offensive
College of Idaho’s Kylie Waltermeyer was named the CCC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.

Waltermeyer, a sophomore forward from Turnwater, Wash., led the Yotes to a 69-62 win over Eastern Oregon University. She recorded a 66.7 field goal percentage with 19 total points. She also added six rebounds, five assists, and three steals in 35 total minutes played.

Men's Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 13-ranked Corban University’s David Rubio was named the CCC Men’s Wrestler of the Week.

Rubio (157lbs), a redshirt-senior from Salem, Ore., is ranked No. 2 in his weight class. He handed No. 8-ranked Southern Oregon's No. 3 Aaron Gandara his first loss of 2024-25 with an overtime takedown with less than ten seconds remaining in the period.

Women's Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 3-ranked University of Providence’s Erin Hikiji was named the CCC Women’s Wrestler of the Week for the second time this season.

Hikiji (103lbs), a junior from Mililani, Hawaii, is the top ranked wrestler in her weight class. She dominated the No. 1 ranked NCAA wrestler by technical fall (13-2) in the championship of the North Central College Invitational, where she was voted the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament. Hikiji also defeated the No. 5 and No. 8 ranked NCAA wrestlers on Sunday, defeating them both by technical fall (13-3, 12-1).
