CALDWELL, Idaho – The NAIA announced their list of All Americans for women's soccer, with The College of Idaho earning four selections. Prior to this year, the Yotes had only had two others recognized as an All-American. Eden Makaafi, Larissa Wegner, Isabel DeVille, and Kyndra Lyons were announced as All-Americans.
Junior Forward Eden Makaafi was named second team All-America. She is the first person in school history to ever receive the distinction twice as she was third team All-America last year. During the 2024 campaign, Makaafi netted 16 goals which is the second-best mark in program's history. Her goals came at the best of times. She scored the game winner in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championship game. The strong season propelled the Yotes to their first ever appearance at the NAIA Final Site and she did not shy away from the national spotlight. The first game in Pensacola, Fla, Makaafi scored the first goal at the final site in school's history against Marian (Ind.). Her third goal of the evening secured her hattrick and propelled the Yotes to a massive 3-2 victory.
Senior Midfielder Larissa Wegner was announced as a third-team All-American. Wegner tallied 14 goal contributions on the season by scoring 10 goals and assisting on four others. She scored five game winning goals to put her at 11 game-winning goals for her outstanding career. She currently ties the record for most game-winners in program history. Her ability to lead in transition and facilitate the high-power Yotes' offense also earned her CCC Offensive Player of the Year. The accurate passes dished by Wegner were central to the Yotes scoring 80 goals on the season.
Senior Defender Isabel DeVille earned recognition as a third-team All-America selection. Her leadership on the backline secured the Yotes 12 shutouts in 23 games. Only 15 goals were scored on the Yotes on the season and much of it resulted from the astute play of DeVille. She amassed 5789 minutes played in her four years in a College of Idaho uniform, which stands tall as the most minutes ever played for a Yotes women's soccer player. She played 16 games start to finish this season and started all 23 games which is a testament to her strength and mental fortitude to be ready at all times.
Junior Midfielder Kyndra Lyons great season earned her third team All-America honors. A menace in the midfield, Lyons disrupted opponents all season in her holding midfield role. Her tackles and keen interceptions kept opponents on their feet. Not only did she stifle opponents, she was a crucial component to the Yotes' offense. She distributed six assists during the season, including two against Marion in the Round of 16 of the NAIA Championship in Pensacola, Fla. She was the primary set piece taker on the season and her precise free kick in the 66
th minute against Marion was a pivotal assist in sparking the team's run as national semifinalists.
