CCC Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following six CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for their performances during competition from December 2 – 8, 2024.

Men’s Basketball – Defensive
No. 4-ranked College of Idaho’s Straton Rogers was named the CCC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.

Rogers, a senior guard from Eagle, Idaho, helped the Yotes tip off the CCC season with two wins over (RV) Southern Oregon University (75-61) and No. 25-ranked Oregon Tech (74-66). He tallied 13 rebounds, two steals, and two assists on top of 25 points in 47 total minutes played.

Men’s Basketball – Offensive
No. 21-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Alton Hamilton was named the CCC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Hamilton, a sophomore forward from Fontana, Calif., helped the Warriors remain undefeated in CCC play with two wins over Northwest University (71-63) and The Evergreen State College (69-53). He shot 56.3 percent from the field with 48 points, 20 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals in 65 total minutes played.

Women’s Basketball – Defensive
The Evergreen State College’s Jalyn Sackrider was named the CCC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.

Sackrider, a senior guard from Elma, Wash., helped the Geoducks to its first win of the season with a 63-43 victory over Walla Walla University and a competitive contest with No. 14-ranked Lewis-Clark State College (L, 55-46). She recorded 23 rebounds, eight blocks, and two assists on top of 26 points in 63 total minutes played.

Women’s Basketball – Offensive
(RV) Oregon Tech’s Gabbie Gascon was named the CCC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.

Gascon, a junior guard from Jackson, Calif., led the Owls to two wins to tip off the conference season over Eastern Oregon University (69-50) and College of Idaho (67-58). She recorded a 45.5 field goal percentage with 42 total points. She also added 17 rebounds, six assists, and four steals in 72 total minutes played.

Men's Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 13-ranked Corban University’s Jr Downing was named the CCC Men’s Wrestler of the Week.

Downing (149lbs), a sophomore from Redmond, Ore., went undefeated at the Clackamas Open to earn his first individual weight class champion title as a Warrior. He went 4-0 with a pair of pins, a technical fall, and a 12-9 decision.

Women's Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 3-ranked University of Providence’s Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp was named the CCC Women’s Wrestler of the Week.

Estrella-Beauchamp (138lbs), a junior from Kahului, Hawaii, is ranked second in her weight class and went undefeated at the Doane Open. She began the tournament with a technical fall and then completed five pins, all within a minute against other ranked opponents to earn the individual crown.
