OREGON CITY, Ore. – Eastern Oregon men's wrestling made its presence felt at Saturday's Clackamas Open, with four Mountaineers earning top-six finishes. Sophomore John Rudebaugh led the way with an impressive second-place finish at 165 pounds, scoring 16.5 team points for the Mountaineers.
Rudebaugh's performance featured three straight wins, including a first-round pin and a semifinal victory by decision over Armando Nicacio of Corban University. He ultimately fell to Simpson University's William Schwertscharf in the championship bout, finishing with a 3-1 record on the day.
At 157 pounds, Trace Evans claimed sixth place, racking up 11.0 team points. Evans showcased resilience in the consolation bracket, winning four consecutive matches—three by fall and one by major decision—before falling in the consolation semifinals.
The Mountaineers also saw success at 197 pounds, where both Justin Sawai and Stone Robledo placed. Sawai secured fifth place after a strong day, highlighted by two decision victories in the consolation rounds. Robledo earned sixth place with a dominant run in the consolation bracket, including two major decisions and two pins.

Other Mountaineers gained valuable experience but came up short of placing, including Kylan Guerra (174), Quentin Honrbeak (174), Tucker Bonner (157), Mason Wolcott (141), Wesley Merch (141), and Vincent Cramer (149).
EOU men's wrestling will return to action next at the Reno Tournament of Champions, set to take place on December 22nd.
