CORVALLIS, Ore. – After earning the 2024 conference championship title, No. 3-ranked Menlo College Men’s Wrestling was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Feb. 12 – Feb. 18, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
From start to finish Menlo was dominant on the mats all weekend, taking 156 total team points to land atop of the standings. The Oaks placed three Champions and three runner-ups with seven receiving All-Conference honors.
The Championship was highlighted by No. 5 Rysan Leong (165lbs) who was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament. Leong Rysan finished day one with a 16-0 technical fall over Carlos Martinez (SU) and a 4-2 decision over No. 16 Devin Crawford (MSUN) to make it to the semifinals. There he won by 4-1 sudden victory over No. 4 Hunter Hobbs (UP). In the championship bout he defeated No. 1 Keller Rock (ERAU) by 3-0 decision.
Head coach Joey Martinez was named the 2023-2024 CCC Coach of the Year. He also won the award last year and has now earned the recognition four times. He has led the Oaks to six total CCC Championships in his career.
Menlo will be traveling a loaded roster with 11 Oaks earning automatic qualifications to the 2024 NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championship, which will be held February 29 – March 2, 2024, at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas.
