Cascade Connects: Softball Preview

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference softball season officially begins today. Several changes have been made to the season openers due to weather and field conditions, find them all here.
 
All 10 CCC teams will take the field this weekend to get the series started, battling for the regular-season championship and the CCC’s first automatic qualifier (AQ) to the NAIA National Tournament. The second AQ will be awarded to the winner of the CCC Softball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank., beginning on May 3.
 
After clinching its second straight regular season and tournament title last year, Oregon Tech was chosen to claim its crown in the CCC Preseason Poll. The Owls were also ranked at the top of the NAIA Preseason Poll. The reigning National Champions of Southern Oregon University followed right behind in both ratings.
 
Corban University vs. University of Providence
Providence hosts Corban in the lone Thursday and Friday games to open the season. Both teams have one win heading into its first conference matchups. Last year the teams faced each other in its final games and the Argos took the CCC series 2-1.
 
The remaining games will take place Saturday and Sunday.

Oregon Tech vs. Eastern Oregon University
Eastern Oregon is prepared to take the team to new heights, starting its conference season strong by hosting Oregon Tech. The Mounties currently sit on top of the CCC standings with a 7-2 record while the Owls enter conference play at 8-4. Kaylie Hoskins of EOU has already won two CCC Pitcher of the Week honors and Kaila Mick of OIT has been named the CCC Player of the Week twice this year.
 
Southern Oregon University vs. Warner Pacific University
Warner Pacific is ready to host Southern Oregon to start the CCC season. SOU holds a 9-4 record while WPU is looking to pick up its first win. The Knights have yet to record a victory over the Raiders.
 
College of Idaho vs. Carroll College
Carroll is currently 3-6 and will host College of Idaho who holds a 7-7 record. The Yotes defeated the Fighting Saints five times last season and were the runner up in the CCC Championship, making it to the opening rounds of the NAIA Tournament.
 
Bushnell University vs. University of British Columbia
British Columbia currently is 6-6 as they head into the conference season. The T-Birds host the Beacons who hold a 5-6 record. UBC went 2-1 against Bushnell when the teams opened its CCC season against each other last year.
