VICTORIA, B.C. – Every single member of the Corban University Men's Golf team that made the international journey this week improved upon their day one scores to move up the team leaderboards over the final 18 holes today, as the Warriors finished with a 595 team score to place third overall at the Vikes Spring Shootout, hosted by the University of Victoria.

"A great round by our men today as we improved by seven strokes and took over third place as a team," Corban head coach Charlie Marshall shared shortly after the conclusion of the two-round tournament. "I'm proud of these guys for grinding it out the past two days to overcome slippery and tricky greens. Brayden was the low man today with a +1 and Jackson gave it a run to the title but couldn't quite get some critical putts to drop."
After tallying the high round of the day for Corban in yesterday's opener, sophomore Brayden Sparkman had an incredible bounce back performance today to flip spots on the Warriors' team leaderboard and submit the lowest scorecard of the day at just one-stroke over par, resulting in a seven-stroke improvement from the first round of play.
Senior Jackson Bragg, who entered the day in third place via the individual standings, gave the top of the leaderboards all they could handle, but eventually came up just five strokes behind the tournament champion and three strokes from a medalist finish, settling for fourth place overall.
Junior Max McDonough (+8) narrowly beat out Sparkman's late rally for a four-way tie in 11th place, with Sparkman accepting a two-man draw for 15th. Sophomore Shane Jacobus found himself in 17th all alone at +10, while sophomore Andy Austen rounded out the Warriors' crew with a +12 and in a tie for 19th place.
The Navy and Gold sank a combined seven birdies today in their second multi-round tournament of the spring season and will look to build on that next month when they compete in their final regular season tournament in Lewiston, Idaho. The LC State Spring Invite will take place on April 15th and 16th and feature all of the Cascade Collegiate Conference members one last time before the CCC Championships at the end of the month.
