CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following twelve CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from March 18 – 24, 2024.
Beach Volleyball – Pair
No. 2-ranked Corban University’s Jessica McMillian and Danae Stokes were named the Rize Laboratory Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week.
The junior and freshmen duo improved to 8-2 on the season, picking up two huge match wins over NCAA Dl University of Portland with set scores of 22-20, 21-15 and 22-20, 16-21, 15-13.
Baseball – Player
No. 23 University of British Columbia’s Aaron Marsh was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
Marsh, a junior infielder from Nanaimo, B.C., helped the Thunderbirds to a series sweep over Corban University. He recorded 10 hits, including four doubles, a triple, and a homerun for a .588 batting average and a 1.118 slugging percentage. Across the weekend he tallied eight RBIs, six runs, and touched 19 total bases. In the field he managed a .875 fielding percentage.
Baseball – Pitcher
No. 23 University of British Columbia’s Sean Heppner was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Heppner, a junior from Points Roberts, Wash., had an impressive performance on the mound against Corban University, leading the Thunderbirds to a 16-0 victory. He did not allow a run and only let up two hits while striking out nine batters in six innings for a perfect ERA.
Softball – Player
No.10-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Hannah Clavelle was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week.
Clavelle, a senior infielder from Marysville, Calif., helped the Raiders to a series sweep over University of Providence. She recorded 9 hits in 11 at bats for an impressive .818 batting average and 1.273 slugging percentage. She added eight RBIs and four runs while drawing five walks. She was also errorless in the field with four putouts and seven assists.
Softball – Pitcher
No. 15-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kaylie Hoskins was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Hoskins, a junior from Lake Stevens, Wash., had a dominant weekend in the circle, leading EOU to a series sweep over Warner Pacific University. She threw 10 total innings and only allowed three hits and one earned run while striking out 26 batters for an outstanding .70 ERA.
Men’s Golf – Golfer
Corban University’s Jackson Bragg was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Bragg (70-73 – 143), a senior from Chico, Calif., finished in 4th out of 32 golfers this weekend at the Vikes Spring Shootout. He was just five strokes off the top spot after an opening round at -1 that led to a +2 finish through both days of play, leading the Warriors to a top three team finish.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
Corban University’s Kristin Senatra was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Senatra (79-78 – 157), a senior from Happy Valley, Ore., finished in 5th out of 28 golfers this weekend at the Vikes Spring Shootout.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Northwest University’s Micah Murphy was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Murphy, a senior runner from Lynwood, Wash., made a time of 14:44.11 in the 5k for a program record at the University of Oregon Preview. This qualified as a B standard and currently ranks 12th in the NAIA this season.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Cameron Kuziak was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Kuziak, a junior thrower from Calgary, Alta., recorded a distance of 58.22m in the Javelin at the UBC Open. This earned him a 2nd place finish and an A standard which is currently ranked 9th in the NAIA.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Oregon Tech’s Ally Odell was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Odell, a senior from Canby, Ore., won the heptathlon at the OIT Invite with a score of 4428. She was victorious in 6-of-7 events, including a personal record in the 110-Hurdles, 200-meters, and the javelin. She earned an A standard and is currently ranked at the top of the NAIA this season.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
College of Idaho’s Star Herron was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Herron, a junior thrower from Bellevue, Idaho, finished first in the hammer throw with a distance of 55.82m at the Buc Scoring Invite. She earned a program record with an A standard and currently ranks 2nd in the NAIA this season.
