2023-24 CCC Women’s Basketball Postseason Awards Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2023-24 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball postseason awards were announced Tuesday by the conference office.
 
For the third consecutive year, No. 11-ranked Lewis-Clark State College's Callie Stevens was named the Rize Laboratory Player of the Year. Meghan McIntyre of No. 18-ranked Southern Oregon University won Newcomer of the Year. Brie Holecek of Eastern Oregon University and Chariah Daniels of Walla Walla University were voted as Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Tatum Schmerbach of Oregon Tech earned Freshman of the Year. Southern Oregon head coach Carlotta Kloppenburg-Pruitt was named the Coach of the Year. Northwest University received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
 
Stevens, a senior guard from Puyallup, Wash., had a fantastic final season for the Warriors. She scored 522 points, averaging 17.4 per game which ranks 4th in the Cascade Conference. Stevens shot .463 percent from the field, .768 percent from the line, and .362 percent from behind the arc, which all rank in the top 10 in the CCC. She added 91 assists and 54 steals which also rank in the top 10 in the Cascade Conference. She helped LC State remain ranked on the NAIA Coaches' Poll throughout the year, ending conference play with a 19-3 record. This season, she was named the CCC Player of the Week four times. Stevens is the first woman to earn the annual honor three times.
 
McIntyre transferred from Orange Coast C.C., and already made herself a force on the Southern Oregon squad, leading the Raiders to a CCC regular season and tournament title. In the Cascade Conference, she ranked in the top 10 in scoring (16 avg/g), assists (107), and steals (62). The junior guard also helped SOU remain nationally ranked throughout the season, ending conference play with a 20-2 record. McIntyre earned two of the final three CCC Player of the Week honors.
 
Holecek, a junior forward from Spokane, Wash., had another stellar defensive run for the Mounties, tallying 174 total rebounds (6.2 avg/g). 
Daniels, a junior forward from Wichita, Kan., anchored a balanced defense for Walla Walla, leading the Wolves to new heights. She ranked at the top of the Cascade Conference in steals with 64 (2.9 avg/g) and 3rd in rebounds with 219 (10 avg/g). 

Schmerbach quickly made herself known in her first year as an Owl. The Medford, Ore., native tallied 211 rebounds and 83 assists which ranked 11th and 12th in the CCC, respectively.
 
Kloppenburg-Pruitt led SOU to a regular season and tournament championship as the Raiders now head into the NAIA Tournament on a 17-game winning streak. This is her second time receiving this honor in her third year at the helm of the program.
