CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2023-24 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball postseason awards were announced Wednesday by the conference office.
No. 3-ranked College of Idaho’s Samaje Morgan was named the Rize Laboratory Player of the Year. Jaedon Bradley of Lewis-Clark State College won Newcomer of the Year. Straton Rogers of College of Idaho was voted as Defensive Players of the Year. Alton Hamilton of Lewis-Clark State College earned Freshman of the Year. Lewis-Clark State College head coach Austin Johnson was named the Coach of the Year. Corban University received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Morgan, a sophomore guard had a fantastic second season for the Yotes, soring 438 points, averaging 14.1 per game. He shot .817 percent from the line and .427 percent from behind the arc which both rank in the top 10 in the CCC. The Eugene, Ore., native also added 125 assists (5th in CCC) and 34 steals. He helped C of I remain ranked on the NAIA Coaches’ Poll throughout the year, ending conference play with a 21-1 record and a regular season title.
Bradley transferred from Alaska Anchorage and already made his mark on the Warrior squad, leading LC State to a second-place conference finish. In the Cascade Conference, he ranked in the top 10 in scoring (14.5 avg/g), 3-points made (2.4 avg/g), and defensive rebounds (4.4 avg/g). The junior forward earned two CCC Player of the Week honors this season.
Rogers, a junior guard from Eagle, Idaho, had another stellar defensive run for the Yotes, tallying 154 total rebounds (5.5 avg/g). He ranked 10th in the CCC in steals with 35 total (1.3 avg/g) and 3rd in offensive rebounds with 76 (2.7 avg/g).
Hamilton quickly made himself a key asset in his first year as a Warrior. The Fontana, Calif., native tallied 192 rebounds (6.4 avg/g) and a .559 field goal percentage, both of which ranked 8th in the CCC.
Johnson led the Warriors to a second-place conference finish with a 19-3 record. This is his second time receiving this honor in his sixth year at the helm of the LC State program.
