CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following ten CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 15 – 21, 2024.
Baseball – Player
No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Brandon Cabrera was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
Cabrera, a junior outfielder from Aloha, Ore., helped lead the Warriors to an impressive series sweep against (RV) University of British Columbia. He recorded a double and two home runs for a .500 batting average and a .889 slugging percentage. Across the weekend he tallied four runs, six RBIs, and five stolen bases. Defensively he managed a perfect fielding percentage.
Baseball – Pitcher
No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Drake George was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.
George, a junior from Riddle, Ore., had a fantastic outing on the mound against UBC, leading the Warriors to a 13-3 victory. He pitched a complete game, striking out nine batters for a 2.00 ERA.
Softball – Player
No. 5-ranked Oregon Tech’s Lexi Klum was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week.
Klum, a senior outfielder from Tigard Ore., was dominant in the Owls series sweep over Carroll College. At the plate, she recorded nine hits in 14 at bats for a .643 batting average and a 1.071 slugging percentage. She added seven RBIs and four runs on top of three doubles and a homerun. Defensively she managed a perfect fielding percentage.
Softball – Pitcher
No. 11-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kylie Parsons was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Parsons, a junior from Pendleton, Ore., was impressive on the mound in the Mounties series sweep against Bushnell University. She did not allow a run and only let up three hits while striking out 17 batters in 11.1 innings for a perfect ERA.
Men’s Golf – Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College’s Bryden Brown was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Brown (69-68-72 – 209), a sophomore from Moscow, Idaho, was the individual champion at the Warrior Invitational on Tuesday. He recorded four birdies in each of the three rounds to best the 61-person field in the final Cascade Conference tournament of the regular season. A birdie on the first playoff hole secured his third victory of the season.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
No. 1-ranked University of British Columbia’s Elizabeth Labbe was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Labbe (75-73 – 148), a junior from Quebec City, Que., was the individual champion at the Warrior Invitational on Tuesday. She posted a one-over 73 in the final round to claim the title, helping lead the Thunderbirds to a team victory as well.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Carter Gordon was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Gordon, a junior runner from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, finished 3rd with a time of 1:50.62 in the 800m at the Cougar Classic. This qualified as an A standard which currently ranks 2nd in the NAIA this season.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s TJ Davis was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Davis, a graduate student from Sandpoint, Idaho, won the 2024 CCC Track and Field Multi-Events Championship this weekend. He won seven events to score a total of 6996 points in the decathlon, which currently ranks at the top of the NAIA this season.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
College of Idaho’s Kylee Quinton was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Quinton, a freshmen runner from Weiser, Idaho, had a successful weekend at the EOU Open. She placed 1st in both the 3000m steeplechase (12:06.80) and the 4x800m relay (9:07.09). The relay team reached an A standard and posted the fastest time in the NAIA this season.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Rebecca Dutchak was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Dutchak, a junior from Victoria, B.C., set a new CCC point record in the heptathlon at the conference Track and Field Multi-Events Championship this weekend. She won four events to score a total of 5109 points, which currently ranks at the top of the NAIA this season.
