CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 5-ranked Oregon Tech softball team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for April 22 – 28, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
With a series sweep over No. 20-ranked College of Idaho this weekend, OIT clinched the CCC regular season title for the third consecutive year, ending conference play with a 24-3 record.
In game one, Kaila Mick, Puakea Milbourne, Nita Cook, and Lexi Klum each recorded two hits for the Owls. Kacie Schmidt took a 2-hit shutout into the seventh inning and recorded 11 strikeouts on the mound to help lead to the 6-2 victory.
In game two, Mick stayed hot at the plate with two hits, three RBIs, and a run. Mckenzie Staub got the shutout on the mound, striking out five batters for the 5-0 win.
In game three, Schmidt worked around four hits and six walks to earn her 21st win of the year. At the plate, Jayce Seavert went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to help lead to the 9-3 defeat.
In game four, Klum was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs to lead the Owls at the plate. Staub earned her 17th win on the mound with three strikeouts to end with a final score of 9-4.
Next up, OIT will host the 2024 Softball Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, May 3-5.
