Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following eight CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 22 – 28, 2024.

Baseball – Player
No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Carter Booth was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Booth, a senior outfielder from Mill Creek, Wash., helped lead the Warriors to a series sweep against Bushnell University to conclude the regular season. He recorded four homeruns on top of a .500 batting average and a 1.313 slugging percentage. Across the weekend he tallied eight runs, nine RBIs, and three walks while touching 21 total bases. Defensively, he managed a .917 fielding percentage.

Baseball – Pitcher
No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Shane Spencer was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.

Spencer, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., had a fantastic outing on the mound against Bushnell, leading the Warriors to a 5-4 victory. He did not allow a walk in eight innings pitched and gave up just three hits and one earned run while striking out 10 batters for an impressive 1.13 ERA.

Softball – Player
No. 5-ranked Oregon Tech’s Lexi Klum was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
 
Klum, a senior outfielder from Tigard Ore., was dominant in the Owls final regular season series sweep over No. 20-ranked College of Idaho. At the plate, she recorded seven runs, five RBIs, and three doubles for a .500 batting average and a .750 slugging percentage. She stole a base and drew two walks while touching nine bases. Defensively she managed a perfect fielding percentage.

Softball – Pitcher
No. 13-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Katie Machado was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.

Machado, a senior from Petaluma, Calif., led SOU on the mound in two of their three wins against No. 11-ranked Eastern Oregon University. She allowed just seven earned runs and struck out eight batters across 16.1 innings for a 3.00 ERA.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Justin Ash was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Ash, a junior runner from Baker City, Ore., finished 3rd in the 3000m-steeplechase behind NCAA Dl competition. He reached a personal record with a time of 9:09.03 at the OSU High Performance meet. This qualified as an A standard which currently ranks 3rd in the NAIA this season.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Tyler Jones was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Jones, a junior from Richland, Wash., won the high jump at the OSU High Performance meet over NCAA Dl competition. He recorded an A standard with a 2.10m mark which currently ranks 10th in the NAIA this season.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Holly MacGillivray was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
MacGillivray, a junior runner from Waterloo, Ont., had a successful weekend at the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational. She placed 1st in the 1500m with a time of 4:20.99 which is currently the fastest time in the NAIA this season.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Kenna Woodward was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Woodward, a senior from Prineville, Ore., continues to put up high marks, reaching a distance of 52.85m in the hammer throw. She faced mostly Dl competition and finished 3rd with an A standard.
