CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has announced the retirement of long-time men's basketball supervisor of officials Stu Gorski.
"Basketball has been a major part of my life," stated Gorski. "I have thoroughly enjoyed the friendship of many, many officials and it has been a privilege to work for and with so many wonderful people. Lastly, I want to thank CCC Commissioner Robert Cashell for giving me the opportunity to serve so many wonderful schools in the Cascade Collegiate Conference."
With over 40 years of experience in the field, Gorski has worked at every level of college basketball and served on the NCAA women’s basketball mechanics and manual committee and assisted in the creation of the first ever NCAA women’s rule book. He has attended, instructed, or presented at over 100 officiating camps across the western United States and Canada. As the supervisor Gorski was tasked with identification, selection, training, and evaluation of countless officials over his tenure. On several occasions CCC officials were selected to work the NAIA National Tournaments based upon recommendations from Gorski and numerous officials who got their start under Gorski have gone on to officiate at the NCAA Division I level.
"Stu has been a trusted and dear colleague for over a decade," stated Cashell. "Our level of officiating improved tremendously under his guidance, and he was committed to providing outstanding officials who were always prepared to work in what we believe is one of the premier small college basketball leagues in the nation."
