Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following eleven CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 1 – 7, 2024.

Beach Volleyball – Pair
No. 2-ranked Corban University’s Megan Dennis & Emma Bischoff were named the Rize Laboratory Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week.

The junior and freshmen duo had a 4-1 weekend to finish conference play with a 13-4 doubles record. The first pair defeated opponents from Bushnell University (21-19, 24-22), Northwest University (21-15, 16-21, 17-15), Southern Oregon University (21-13, 25-23), and College of Idaho (21-18, 21-16). The Warriors clinched the CCC regular season title this weekend.

Baseball – Player
(RV) University of British Columbia’s Jonny McGill was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
 
McGill, a junior outfielder from Richmond, B.C., had an outstanding outing for the Thunderbirds, helping lead UBC to a series sweep against Bushnell University. He recorded nine hits, including three doubles and a homerun for a .563 batting average and a .938 slugging percentage. Across the weekend he tallied 10 runs, six RBIs, and stole a base. Defensively he managed a .875 fielding percentage.

Baseball – Pitcher
No. 8-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Shane Spencer was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Spencer, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., had an outstanding performance on the mound against College of Idaho, leading the Warriors to a 14-1 victory. In six innings he did not allow an earned run and only let up three hits while striking out 11 batters for a perfect ERA.

Softball – Player
No. 10-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Hailey Seva was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week.
 
Seva, a junior infielder from Granite Bay, Calif., was dominant in the Raiders series sweep over Corban University. At the plate, she recorded 9 hits in 15 at bats for a .600 batting average and a 1.067 slugging percentage. She added six RBIs and six runs on top of two home runs. She was perfect in the field with three putouts.

Softball – Pitcher
University of British Columbia’s Carleen Murray was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Murray, a sophomore from White Rock, B.C., had a fantastic appearance on the mound, leading the Thunderbirds to a 7-1 upset victory over No. 4-ranked Oregon Tech. She did not allow an earned run in her complete game for a perfect ERA. This weekend she pitched eight total innings, striking out two batters and did not give up a walk.

Men’s Golf – Golfer
No. 4 -ranked University of British Columbia’s Mackenzie Bickell was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week.

Bickell (74-70-71 – 215), a junior Richmond, B.C., finished 23rd out of 105 golfers this week at the Redhawk Invitational. He carded the lowest card among all non-Dl opponents.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s London Kirk was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Kirk, a junior runner from Deary, Idaho, finished 1st with a time of 47.81 in the 400m at the Whitworth Peace Meet. This qualified as an A standard which currently ranks 13th in the NAIA this season. He also participated in the 4x100m relay team which recorded a time of 41.38 for another 1st place finish and B standard.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Matthew Uliana was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Uliana, a junior thrower from Vancouver, B.C., recorded a distance of 59.62m in the hammer throw for a 1st place finish at the Emilie Mondor Invitational. This earned him an A standard which is currently ranked 3rd in the NAIA this season.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Madigan Kelly was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Kelly, a junior runner from Lewiston, Idaho, placed 2nd at the Whitworth Peace Meet. She recorded a time of 13.94 in the 100m hurdles to set a new program record and reach an A standard which is currently ranked 6th in the NAIA this season.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Michelle Dadson was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Dadson, a junior thrower from New Westminster, B.C., earned a distance of 51.70m in the hammer throw at the Emilie Mondor Invitational. She reached an A standard which is currently ranked 8th in the NAIA this season. She also recorded a B standard in the shot put with a distance of 13.47m and finished 1st in both events.
