Lightning Delay Fails to Spark Yotes

FAYETTE, Mo – The College of Idaho was stifled by Indiana Wesleyan in the first game of the NAIA Opening Round. The Yotes held the Wildcats to just one run, however they failed to get on the board themselves and fell 1-0 after a two-hour lightning and weather delay.

Zoe Fountain's connection in the bottom of the second was grounded to Yotes pitcher Annie Polster who threw Fountain out at first, but allowed Kamryn Buck to score. Buck got on base through a well hit ball to left field to earn her the double.

Annie Polster's six innings in the circle only gave up three hits but the Yotes' bats fell silent. Prevailing pitching from Alyssa Wagner fanned six Yotes as she pitched the game start to finish. The only two hits from Yotes came from singles from Lexi Navarrete and Kaylee MacDannald. In the defensive battle, neither team accrued an error.

The Yotes' postseason will continue for at least one more game in a win or go home against Mid-America Christian
