CORVALLIS, Ore. – The six seeds of the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Softball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, were announced Saturday and the tournament begins on Friday.
The double elimination conference tournament takes place May 3-5, hosted by the regular season champions, Oregon Tech, in Klamath Falls, Ore., at John and Lois Stilwell Stadium.
#4 Southern Oregon University vs. #5 University of British Columbia
The reigning national champions, No. 17-ranked Southern Oregon ended the CCC regular season with a 20-7 record. British Columbia held a 16-11 conference record. SOU won three of the four series games over UBC. The Raiders are ranked 2nd in the CCC in batting (.333 avg), slugging (.500%), fielding (.973%), runs scored (321), RBIs (271), homeruns (34).
#3 College of Idaho vs. #6 Carroll College
No. 15-ranked College of Idaho finished CCC play with a 20-7 record. Carroll College ended CCC play with a 12-15 record. The Yotes swept the Saints during the regular season. C of I leads the conference in home runs (41) and is ranked 3rd in batting (.316 avg), slugging (.496%), fielding (.967%), runs scored (287), and RBIs (254).
#1 Oregon Tech vs. Winner Game 1
No. 5-ranked OIT clinched the CCC regular season title for the third consecutive year with a 24-3 CCC record. They lead the conference in several categories including batting (.366 avg), slugging (.548%), on base (427%), fielding (.976%), runs scored (338), RBIs (301), and total bases (716).
#2 Eastern Oregon University vs. Winner Game 2
No. 10-ranked EOU secured the 2nd seed with a 22-5 conference record. The Mounties pitchers lead the CCC (1.30 ERA) and hold opponents to the lowest batting average (.179) with a total of 390 strikeouts.
Whichever team wins the tournament championship will earn the CCC's second Automatic Qualifier (AQ) to the National Tournament. If OIT advances to the championship, their opponent will earn the other AQ. The opening rounds of the 43rd Annual NAIA Softball Championship begins May 13. This week Oregon Tech was named a host site.
