SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Eastern Oregon Volleyball continued its unbeaten streak at the Alamo City Volleyesta with two more victories on Saturday, beating Nelson University and the host team, Our Lady of the Lake, to improve to 8-0 on the season.
GAME 1
The Mounties extended their perfect record with a 3-1 win over Nelson in their morning match at the OLLU Mabee Gymnasium, taking set wins of 26-9, 19-25, 25-15, and 25-14. EOU recorded 7 total aces in the match, averaging 15 kills per set.
Eastern Oregon's offense was sharp, hitting .372 as a team with 60 kills on 129 attempts. Keira Vaughn led with 19 kills, supported by Ashton Bales with 12 and Madison Morgan with 7. Defensively, the Mounties recorded 11 total blocks, with Ashton Bales leading the way with 5. Hailey Arritola was a standout with 17 digs, complemented by Jaycee Villastrigo with 12 and Hannah Ledgerwood with 9.
Nelson, now 1-3 for the season, was led by Bailee Alexander with 8 kills, and Lilly Hanna and Samantha Moore each added 6. Lindi Boling and Cassidy Hargesheimer each recorded 2 aces. Taylor Cavazos led with 15 assists, and Tessa Glick was strong on defense with 15 digs.
GAME 2
In their afternoon match, Eastern Oregon defeated Our Lady of the Lake 3-0 with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 25-19. The Mounties controlled all aspects of the match, specifically hitting .214 in the third set to secure the sweep.
Keira Vaughn was the top performer with 11 kills, while Madison Morgan added 7 and Ashton Bales 6. The Mountaineers also recorded 4 aces, with Hannah Ledgerwood leading with 2. On the defensive end, Eastern Oregon managed 8 blocks, with Bales and Mylie Mills each recording 2. Hailey Arritola anchored the defense with 16 digs, with Hannah Ramage and Ledgerwood adding 9 each.
Our Lady of the Lake was led by Mia Francis with 7 kills, and Victoria Urbanczyk with 6. The team managed 3 blocks, with Anais Velasquez contributing 3. Lauren Reynard led with 12 assists, and Tina Trevino had a team-high 9 digs.
Eastern Oregon will next travel to Nampa, Idaho, to face Northwest Nazarene on August 30, capping off preseason play.
