CCC Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following seven CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for their performances during competition from August 19 – 25, 2024.

Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
University of Providence’s Thomas Sine was named the CCC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Sine, a sophomore goalkeeper from Cheney, Wash., completed eight saves, only allowing one goal in the Argos first win of the season against Dakota Wesleyan University. He spent full time in the net while picking up saves in the 85th and 88th minute for Providence to keep the game tied before UP scored the game winner in the 89th minute to secure the 2-1 victory.

Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
University of Providence’s Santi Jaramillo Ortiz was named the CCC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Jaramillo Ortiz, a sophomore midfielder from Bogotá, Colombia, helped lead the Argos to their first victory of the season over Dakota Wesleyan University. He broke the tie in the 89th minute in his lone shot of the game, sinking a rocket off the side of the goal to close out Providence's 2-1 defeat.

Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Carroll College’s Maria Ackerman was named the CCC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Ackerman, a sophomore goalkeeper from Billings, Mont., was strong in net for the Saints in their first three games of the season. She finished the week with 22 total saves for a .917 save percentage while also recording her first shut out of the season against University Of Lethbridge.

Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College’s Delaney Moczan was named the CCC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Moczan, a sophomore forward from Las Vegas Nev., opened the Fighting Saints 2024 season on a hot streak, posting a pair of two-goal games that helped lead Carroll to a 2-0-1 record. She has been aggressive in the first three games, putting up 18 total shots, 10 of which on goal (.556 sog%), with four finding the net.

Volleyball – Attacker
Corban University’s Emma Bischoff was named the CCC Attacker of the Week.
 
Bischoff, a sophomore outside hitter from Medford Ore., was dominant all-around for the Warriors in three-straight top 15 upsets this past weekend. She recorded double-doubles in all three contests, averaging 13 kills and 11 digs per game. She also secured seven service aces along the way to complete a perfect weekend for Corban.

Volleyball – Defender
Oregon Tech’s Aleksen Thayer was named the CCC Defender of the Week.

Thayer, a sophomore middle blocker from Truckee, Calif., recorded the 2nd most blocks in school history to help lead OIT in five victories. She averaged 1.59 blocks per set over six matches for 35 total on the week while also adding 13 hits.

Volleyball – Setter
Corban University’s Abby Guindy was named the CCC Setter of the Week.
 
Guindy, a junior setter from San Jose, Calif., nearly snagged three-straight double-double performances in Corban's perfect weekend against top 15 opponents. She averaged 5.33 assists per set and over 21 per match for a total of 64 on the week while also adding 29 digs.
