KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Maria Ackerman of Carroll College was named the NAIA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. She was selected based on her performances from August 5-25 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unafilliated group nominees.

Ackerman, a sophomore goalkeeper from Billings, Mont., was strong in net for the Fighting Saints in their first three games of the season. She finished the week with 22 total saves for a .917 save percentage while only allowing two goals over the stretch for a .67 goals-against average. The week was highlighted by recording her first shutout victory of the year against the University of Lethbridge of Canada.
