Warrior Golf Teams Conclude 2024 Fall Season Exhibition Opener with Bushnell

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A grueling 12-hour day at Pine Ridge Golf Club is how the Corban University Men's & Women's Golf teams began the 2024-25 school year today in Springfield, as they participated in exhibition rounds alongside Bushnell University to provide each of the four programs present with an opportunity to play the same course that they'll be beginning the regular season on in two weeks' time.

"Not our best start overall, but there were lots of positive play in our rounds from both squads, explained Corban head coach Charlie Marshall. "It's always good to have a pre-conference play tune-up in the books, and we came away with things that need to be polished up. Congrats to Kristin for winning medalist and congrats to our freshmen for competing well in their first collegiate event!"

With a complete five-women team competing today for the Warriors, graduate student Kristin Senatra cruised to the individual medalist position with a round of 76 this afternoon, representing the only student-athlete within the women's teams to break 80 on the day. Four of Coach Marshall's freshmen hit the course and had their first introduction to collegiate competition, as Ashlyn Thomas (96), Madelyn Moore (101), Elliot Chesla (113), and Avery Hansen (122) all experienced just a taste of what the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) season will offer them in 2024-25.

On the men's side, sophomore David Harvey and senior Max McDonough tied for the Warriors' top finisher at 153 across two rounds, with Harvey earning the best individual round score of the day with a bounce back 72 in the afternoon round. Sophomore Owen Heath (154), junior Andy Austen (155), and junior Brayden Sparkman (155) rounded out the top five Corban bags to average the lowest overall men's score on the day.

True freshman Riley Quillin completed his first collegiate golf outing with a 161 through two rounds, followed by redshirt senior Andrew Classen (165), junior Brock Nelson (170), and sophomore Benjamin Winans (177) to conclude the Corban portion of today's exhibition play.

The Beacons were led by freshman Peyton Widenmann who took the men's individual medalist position with rounds of 76 and 73 for a 149 overall, the only men's golfer to break 150 over both rounds today. The Bushnell women's team was incredibly consistent from top to bottom, as freshman Kylee Smith earned an 82 on the day, followed closely behind by senior Analise Aubin and sophomore Jada Richwine at 83 apiece.

The Corban golf teams will return to Pine Ridge Golf Club for the kickoff CCC event of the 2024-25 school year on September 8th and 9th for the Bushnell Fall Invite, where members of Warrior Nation will have their first opportunity to see how the programs stack up against the remainder of the conference squads.
