T-Birds Roll on Day One of Bushnell Fall Invite

RESULTS | SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The first Cascade Conference men’s golf tournament of the season kicked off on Monday with the first two rounds of the Bushnell Fall Invitational, taking place at Pine Ridge Golf Course.

It was all British Columbia through the first 36 holes as the Thunderbirds, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, jumped out to a commanding 30-shot lead as they owned four of the top five spots on the leaderboard.

Aidan Schumer’s 71-68—139 gave him a four-stroke individual lead on the field as UBC ended the day shooting an eight-under par 568. Dylan McDonald (74-69—143), JP Kahlert (70-73—143), and Makenzie Bickell (72-73—145) were also in the top-five.

Tied for second-place in the clubhouse are Oregon Tech (598) and Lewis-Clark State (598). The LC State Warriors are currently receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll.

Tournament host Bushnell was next in fourth place with a two-round total of 606, one shot ahead of Multnomah. Corban (610), Southern Oregon (619), College of Idaho (622) and Walla Walla (637) rounded out the team scoring.

Beyond the Canadian stranglehold, OIT’s Issey Tanimura was tied for fourth at 145, followed by Bushnell’s Isaac Wells (146) in sixth, while Aaron Brown from Multnomah and Kye Krall from Lewis-Clark State were part of a three-way tie for seventh at 147.

The Bushnell Fall Invitational is a 54-hole tournament and will conclude with the final round on Tuesday.
