Thunderbirds Hold off OIT Charge to win Conference Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Oregon Tech closed an eight-stroke gap midway through Tuesday’s second-round, briefly tying the score before No. 2 British Columbia rallied to clinch a victory at the Bushnell Fall Invitational, taking place at Pine Ridge Golf Course.

UBC ended the day with a tournament-best 294, sealing a 14-shot victory as they combined for a two-round 603. No. 21 Oregon Tech easily took second place (317-300—617) as they defeated No. 20 Lewis-Clark State College by 41 strokes.

Southern Oregon (667) took fourth place, followed by Bushnell and Walla Walla in fifth (683), The College of Idaho in seventh (693) and Corban University in eighth (752).

Individually, it was an historic tournament for Oregon Tech’s Quincy Berouty. Firing a five-under par 70-69—139, the senior set a new CCC 36-hole scoring record and matched the largest margin of victory in a conference tournament at nine strokes. She is also the first non-UBC solo medalist since 2021.

Jessica Ng (pictured) from British Columbia took second place with a four-over 148. Corban’s Kristin Senatra (149) tied for third-place with UBC’s Grace Bell while the T-Birds Bo Brown took fifth (150).

The next of four regular season Cascade Collegiate Conference tournaments takes place in Bermerton, Washington as the University of British Columbia hosts at Gold Mountain Golf Club on October 21-22.
