COLFAX, Wash. – Freshman Lily Bennett put together a strong race in the second outing of her career to lead the No. 14 LC State Women's Cross Country team on Friday. The Warriors placed 12
th as a team at the Cougar Classic with two in the top 100 of the NCAA Division I-heavy field.
Bennett placed 90
th overall in the field of 152 with a 6k time of 23:06.59. Nine DI schools led the way at Washington State's home meet that featured teams from around the country.
Junior Grace Tiegs was the second Warrior to cross the line and finished in the top 100. The Nezperce, Idaho, native placed 96
th with a time of 23:15.69. Senior Abigail Shumaker ran a personal-best time of 23:26.09 and just missed the top 100 in 101
st.
First-year Warriors Damaris Kibiwot and Camille Ussher wrapped up the top five for LC State. Kibiwot, in her second collegiate race, finished 107
th with a time of 23:41.79. Ussher, a transfer from Spokane Falls CC, was 109
th (23:44.73).
Senior Grace McCormick finished 141
st (25:52.48) and Haileyann Johnson was 147
th (30:08.58).
