CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 9-ranked Corban University volleyball team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for September 9 – 15, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Corban (9-1, 5-0 CCC) continued conference play in dominant fashion with three wins this week.
On Tuesday, the Warriors swept rival Bushnell University with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, and 28-26. Abby Guindy and Nadeiah Howard combined for 31 assists in one of their most proficient games of the season. Four different Warriors recorded at least six kills, including nine each from Jadah Schmidtke and Emma Bischoff, helping lead Corban to a .252 attack percentage.
In Friday’s Top 10 match up, after falling in the first two sets, Corban bounced back to secure a 3-2 (25-27, 22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 15-13) upset over No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon University. 17 kills from both Kendra Bittle and Makayla Roginski helped lead the Warriors to victory. Corban managed a .206 attacking average which is the highest for an SOU opponent this season.
Corban kept the momentum into their final Saturday game, shutting out (RV) Oregon Tech 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 26-24). Double-double performances from Bischoff (18 digs, 10 kills) and Guindy (27 assists, 13 digs) helped lead the Warriors to victory.
Corban is looking to remain on top of the conference standings as they are set to host its home opener on Friday, September 20th, against (RV) College of Idaho.
