CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following 11 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for their performances during competition from September 9 – 15, 2024.
Men's Golf – Golfer
University of British Columbia's Aidan Schumer was named the CCC Men's Golfer of the Week.
Schumer (71-68-72 – 211), a senior from Columbus, Ohio, was the individual champion and led British Columbia to a team victory, by a 30 stroke margin, at the first CCC Golf event of the 2024-25 season. He claimed the title at the Bushnell Fall Invitational and was the only golfer to finish at or under par in all three rounds as he finished 5-under-par.
Women's Golf – Golfer
Oregon Tech's Quincy Beyrouty was named the CCC Women's Golfer of the Week.
Beyrouty (70-69 – 139), a senior from Salem, Ore., won the two-round Bushnell Fall Invitational to kick off the 2024-25 season, helping the Owls to a runner-up finish. She set a new CCC 36-hole tournament record, finishing 5-under-par to earn individual medalist honors by nine strokes, recording the largest margin win in league history.
Men's Cross Country – Runner
Lewis-Clark State College's Carter Gordon was named the CCC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Gordon, a senior from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, ran the 10th-fastest 8K in school history and shaved 30 seconds off his previous personal-best on Friday at the Cougar Classic. He placed 20th out of 171 total runners, finishing with a time of 24:26.96 as the top non-NCAA Division I competitor.
Women's Cross Country – Runner
Southern Oregon University's Alyssa Johnson was named the CCC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Johnson, a sophomore from Veneta, Ore., was the 9th-place finisher in a 67-person field on Saturday at the UC Davis Stump Invitational. SOU was the lone non-NCAA team competing as she led the Raiders to a 3rd place team finish with a new 5K PR of 17:47.7.
Men's Soccer – Defensive Player
Carroll College's Juan Muniz Navarette was named the CCC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Muniz Navarette, a senior goalkeeper from Hermiston, Ore., completed two clean sheets this week against Life Pacific University and Westcliff University. He recorded three saves in each game, leading to a 4-0 victory and a scoreless tie for the Fighting Saints.
Men's Soccer – Offensive Player
Bushnell University's Ian Palma was named the CCC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Palma, a freshman forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, had outstanding performances in the Beacons two wins as they remain undefeated while heading into conference action. He earned two goals and an assist on the week while recording a .500 sog%.
Women's Soccer – Defensive Player
No. 13-ranked College of Idaho's Alivia Brenchley was named the CCC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Brenchley, a sophomore goalkeeper from Providence, Utah, recorded four crucial saves in the Yotes 1-1 draw with UC Merced. She spent full time in the net, only allowing one goal to result in a .800 save percentage.
Women's Soccer – Offensive Player
Corban University's Maya Alston was named the CCC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Alston, a freshman forward from Keizer, Ore., registered her first career brace to singlehandedly lead the Warriors in a 2-1 victory over Whitworth University.
Volleyball – Attacker
No. 9-ranked Corban University's Kendra Bittle was named the CCC Attacker of the Week.
Bittle, a sophomore outside hitter from Central Point, Ore., completed one of her best career weeks, adding three more wins to help improve the Warriors to 5-0 in conference play. She pelted 38 kills on a .245 average, including a career-high 17 kills on the road against No. 5-ranked SOU to hand the Raiders their first loss of the season. While making the transition to an all-around position, she added 15 digs and six block assists.
Volleyball – Defender
No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon University's Sadie Byrd was named the CCC Defender of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Byrd, a senior middle blocker from Maple Valley, Wash., broke her own SOU single-match school record with 14 blocks in Saturday's 4-set win over Bushnell. She recorded 19 blocks on the weekend (2.11 b/s) and added 15 kills (1.67 k/s) on a .250 average.
Volleyball – Setter
No. 9-ranked Corban University's Nadeiah Howard was named the CCC Setter of the Week.
Howard, a sophomore setter from Stockton, Calif., was terrific in the Warriors 3-0 road trip, making the most of her rotations with 62 assists (5.64 a/s), 19 digs (1.73 d/s), and four service aces while recording her first double-double of the season in Corban's reverse sweep upset over No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon.
