CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following nine CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for their performances during competition from August 26 – September 1, 2024.
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
Corban University’s Jack Gladfelter was named the CCC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Gladfelter, a sophomore from Port Angeles, Wash., competed at the Linfield Harrier Classic on Saturday in the Warriors first race of the 2024 season. He finished 7th out of 141 runners, completing the 6K by setting a new program record with a time of 18:28.13. He was a vital asset to Corban’s runner-up team title, landing ahead of several NCAA Dl and Dlll opponents.
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
Lewis-Clark State College's Grace Tiegs was named the CCC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Tiegs, a junior from Nezperce, Idaho, competed at the Clash of the Inland Northwest on Friday in the Warriors first race of the 2024 season. She finished as the top NAIA racer out of 80 runners, setting a new career-best time of 15:04 in the 4K. She was instrumental in LC State’s fifth-place team finish at the meet.
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Bushnell University’s William Haberfield was named the CCC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Haberfield, a junior goalkeeper from Albury, Australia, completed three saves, only allowing one goal in the Beacons first win of the season against Pacific University. He spent full time in the net for Bushnell, recording a .750 save percentage to help secure the 3-1 victory.
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
No. 23-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Mustafa Daggig was named the CCC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Daggig, a sophomore forward from Portland, Ore., scored two goals to match the SOU record for multi-goal games in a season during the Raiders 5-0 shutout against Arizona Christian University. On the week he recorded six shots on goal (.750 sog%), and currently leads the CCC in goals.
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
No. 19-ranked College of Idaho’s Alivia Brenchley was named the CCC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Brenchley, a sophomore goalkeeper from Providence, Utah, recorded a clean sheet on Friday. She completed three saves as the Yotes kicked off its season with a 1-0 upset over No. 13-ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
No. 19-ranked College of Idaho’s Natasja Davis was named the CCC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Davis, a junior forward from Kuna, Idaho, opened the Yotes 2024 season with a goal in their first two contests. Her two shots on goal went in (.667 sog%) and she added an assist as C of I began its season with two wins and a tie this week.
Volleyball – Attacker
Bushnell University’s Leah Agost was named the CCC Attacker of the Week.
Agost, a junior right-side hitter from Happy Valley, Ore., quickly adapted in her first season at the position, helping the Beacons earn four sweeps this weekend. She averaged 3.17 kills per set and recorded a .427 attack percentage with 38 total kills. She added two digs and eight blocks along the way to complete Bushnell’s perfect week.
Volleyball – Defender
College of Idaho’s Deshy Sandoval was named the CCC Defender of the Week.
Sandoval, a senior defensive specialist from Urupan, Mexico, played all 16 sets across four matches, helping lead C of I to a 3-1 weekend. She averaged 5.88 digs per set for an impressive total of 94. She also contributed six service aces and 16 assists for the Yotes.
Volleyball – Setter
Bushnell University’s Kate Palelek was named the CCC Setter of the Week.
Palelek, a sophomore setter from Spokane, Wash., helped lead the Bushnell offense to a combined .215 attack percentage in their four sweeps this weekend. She averaged 5.75 assists per set for a total of 69 on the week while also adding 35 digs, two service aces, and two kills.
