Thunderbirds Dominate Day One at The College of Idaho Invitational

CALDWELL, Idaho — The University of British Columbia surged to the top of the leaderboard at The College of Idaho Men’s Golf Invitational, posting a dominant second round to finish the day at 10-under through two rounds at Timberstone Golf Course. The Thunderbirds followed a steady +1 opening round with a scorching 11-under performance in round two, navigating the course’s notably fast greens with precision.

Lewis-Clark State College and Oregon Tech sit tied for second at +15. The Corban Warriors held the early edge with a +6 first round, while the Hustlin’ Owls closed the gap with a strong second round to match scores heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Host College of Idaho is fourth at +30, improving from a +18 first round to a +12 second round. Bushnell University follows at +35, after a +13 opening round and a +22 second round. Corban University sits sixth at +43, improving slightly from +24 to +19. Walla Walla University made the biggest leap, rebounding from a +42 first round to shoot a tournament-best +8 in round two, finishing the day at +50. Warner Pacific rounds out the field at +57 (31-26).

In the individual race, Leighton Wright leads at 139 (-5), highlighted by eagles on hole five in round one and hole 14 in round two. Jake Houston (British Columbia) is one stroke back at 140 after back-to-back rounds of 70, including three eagles in round two. Aneesh Kaura sits third at 142 (74-68), followed by Manpreet Lalh (British Columbia) at 143 (72-71). Tied for fifth are Ricky Reisner (Southern Oregon) and Brett Stouffer (British Columbia), both at 144.

Eddie Tache (Walla Walla) posted the best single-round score of the tournament with a 67 in round two, climbing to a tie for 13th after an opening-round 81.

Round three begins tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
