KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jack Gladfelter of Corban (Ore.) has been named the NAIA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. The junior from Port Angeles, Washington, opened his season by breaking the school record for the men's 8k at the Charles Bowles Invitational.
Competing against a field of 326 runners, Gladfelter completed the 8k course in a remarkable time of 23:52.7, securing a sixth-place finish overall. His performance not only set a new benchmark at Corban, previously held by Robert Swoboda, but also earned him the distinction of being the top NAIA finisher at the event.
The 50th annual Charles Bowles Invitational, known for its challenging course and competitive field, proved to be the perfect stage for Gladfelter's record-breaking run. His achievement is even more impressive, considering it was his first race of the season, which showcases his exceptional talent.
