CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Bushnell University men’s soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for November 3 – 9, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The No. 8 seeded Beacons pulled off a stunning upset in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship quarterfinals, advancing past top-seeded and No. 23-ranked Eastern Oregon University in a penalty kick shootout following a 1-1 draw.
The Beacons battled from behind after EOU took a first-half lead in the 22nd minute. Omar Barajas delivered the equalizer in the 63rd minute, finishing a cross from Walter Reustle for his 12th goal of the season. Bushnell’s defense held firm through regulation and double overtime to force the shootout.
Senior goalkeeper William Haberfield delivered a historic performance, making eight saves in the match and stopping three of four penalty kick attempts in the shootout to seal the 3-1 victory. Danny Rojas, Manuel Bleck Da Silva, and Barajas each converted from the spot to send the Beacons to the semifinals for just the second time in program history and the first since 2017.
The Beacons (10-6-3) continue their postseason run tomorrow, facing No. 2 seeded Carroll College at 4 p.m. in the CCC Semifinals.
