Southern Oregon rattles NCAA DII foe Chico State in 68-57 win

CHICO, Calif. – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team's pressure-packed defense translated just fine to the NCAA Division II level in a fourth straight win Tuesday evening.

The Raiders stole a 68-57 decision from Chico State (Calif.) at Acker Gym, holding the Wildcats to their lowest point total in 27 home games dating back to the 2022-23 season.

Bridgette McIntyre logged 20 points on 12 shots and pulled down nine rebounds as SOU improved to 4-2. The senior guard shot 4-of-9 from 3-point range, making at least four from downtown for the fourth consecutive outing.

The Wildcats – who won 24 games a season ago and were picked third in this year's California Collegiate Athletic Association preseason poll – shot 37% from the field and were outscored by 22 points after jumping out to a 13-2 lead midway through the first quarter.

Over the last 10 years, the Raiders have won all four of their counters against NCAA DII squads. This was their first in eight seasons, but they'll play another Saturday at CCAA favorite Cal Poly Pomona.

Redshirt-freshman guard Taylee Clements sparked the latest effort by hitting 3-of-6 from 3 in her SOU debut. Freshman guard Sage Winslow matched Clements with nine points in her first start.

McIntyre put Chico away by scoring 12 in the fourth quarter, when she hit all three of her attempts from the field and all four at the free-throw line.

Eliza DiGiulio contributed six points, six rebounds and two steals.

Forwards Meadow Aragon and Madison Parry kept the Wildcats in the game by combining for 38 points and 21 rebounds. Their three other starters combined for four points.
