INDEPENDENCE, Ore., – No. 10-ranked Eastern Oregon University captured the 2025 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, at Oak Knoll Golf Course in Independence Ore., on Friday.

The win marked the 14th team title in program history, moving EOU into sole possession of the most CCC championships. The Mountaineers placed all five scoring runners in the top 21, finishing with 71 points and an average of 25:09 over the 8K course.

Senior Thomas Ogden led the effort in ninth (24:53.0), joined closely by Grady Greenwood (10th, 24:53.5) and Darian Slack (12th, 24:56.7). Trevor Nichols (19th, 25:27.9) and Hunter Marlatt (21st, 25:35.2) sealed the win for EOU.

No. 15-ranked Trinity Western’s Yemane Mulugeta claimed the individual title in 24:03.1, followed by teammate Justin Kiplagat (24:10.7) as the Spartans took fourth with 93 points.

No. 9-ranked Southern Oregon finished runner-up with 89 points, led by Carter Stedman in fourth at 24:20.3, Mason Weisgerber in fifth at 24:31.0, and Josh Hepner in seventh at 24:41.9.

No. 20-ranked Corban’s Jack Gladfelter took third overall in 24:15.0, pacing the Warriors to a fifth-place finish, while No. 12-ranked College of Idaho’s Collin De Julio (13th, 24:59.2) led the Yotes to third place.

Josiah Jaquith (8th, 24:50.3) of (RV) Northwest, Isaac Acker (11th, 24:56.6) of Walla Walla, Kobe Wessels (14th, 25:11.0) of Lewis-Clark State, and Max Baeder (15th, 25:12.0) of Evergreen State also earned All-CCC recognition for their top 15 finishes.

Eastern Oregon head coach Ben Welch earned the CCC Men’s Coach of the Year honor. This was his 14th time earning the prestigious award, adding another milestone to his decorated career.

With the victory, Eastern Oregon secured the CCC’s automatic berth to the 2025 NAIA Cross Country National Championships, scheduled for Nov. 21 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida. At-large team and individual qualifiers will be announced next week.
