CORVALLIS, Ore. – No. 15-ranked The Evergreen State College Women’s Wrestling team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for November 24 – 30, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Evergreen State closed out the day with a strong pair of victories at the Native American Heritage Duals. The team defeated Big Bend Community College 23-20 and Linfield University 38-5. Prior to competition Native American Heritage Day was recognized with powwow dancing by Evergreen wrestlers Nizhoni Tallman and Ruby Clark.
Two Geoducks, Flor Parker Borrero and Ariana Cavero-Santiago, went undefeated on the day, each earning two pins. Haley Le added a pin and a technical fall, while Erica Grant posted a pair of 11-0 tech falls.
Evergreen edged Big Bend behind five match victories, including falls from Le, Parker Borrero, and Cavero-Santiago, and tech falls from Ellabelle Taylor and Grant. Against Linfield, the Geoducks controlled the dual by earning points in eight weight classes, highlighted by pins from Parker Borrero and Cavero-Santiago and tech falls from Grant and Le.
Next up, Evergreen will host No. 11-ranked Southern Oregon University for a highly competitive dual on Saturday, December 6th.
