No. 5 SOU cruises past No. 15 ACU, moves to 5-0

ASHLAND – In a meeting of the top teams in the Cascade Conference ratings, Southern Oregon continued its dual dominance with a 35-9 win over Arizona Christian on Saturday afternoon at Bob Riehm Arena.

The Raiders, ranked No. 5 in this week's NAIA poll, got pins from 125-pounder Isaac Hampton, 157-pounder Avant Stepherson and 184-pounder Adrian Chavez-Morales while accumulating six total bonus-point victories against the No. 15 Firestorm. Less than 24 hours after their backups overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat Cal Poly Humboldt, they improved to 5-0 on the season.

Hampton, a No. 9-ranked junior, won by fall with 39 seconds to spare in his matchup with Julio Gonzales. After ACU's No. 6 Sean Archuleta registered a major decision at 133, the Raiders won four straight matches to take a commanding 24-3 lead.

Within that run was Tyler Rhue's 4-1 overtime upset of No. 20 Channing Porter at 141; No. 10-ranked Kolton Malone's 11-1 handling of No. 9 Michael Trujillo, who was wrestling up a weight at 149; No. 16 Stepherson's third-round pin of Rico Robles at 157; and No. 13 Cole Zoller's 17-1 technical fall over Kevin Courseault at 165.

The No. 8-ranked Chavez-Morales needed only 1:05 to finish off Kaden Martin, registering his fifth pin in as many dual outings. Asher Ruchti, ranked No. 2 at 197, upped his perfect record to 9-0 with a 17-2 tech against Bronson Swan.

No. 9 Leonardo Galasso (174) and No. 23 Kaiden Cisneros (285) accounted for the rest of ACU's points, both winning by decision.

The dual was the Raiders' first at home of 2025-26. Dating back to the 2022-23 season, they've won 16 in a row in Ashland.

They'll be in action once more before a holiday break, traveling to the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 21.
