SOU opened the weekend Friday with a thrilling 19-17 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt, rallying from a 17-3 deficit to score 16 unanswered points and clinch the dual in sudden victory. Jackson Potts ignited the comeback with an 8-0 major decision at 174 pounds, followed by Ethan Miller’s second-period pin at 184. Carson Gooley then narrowed the gap with a decision at 197 before heavyweight Justin Tripp sealed the win with an overtime takedown, delivering the Raiders their first lead of the night and the dual victory.
Earlier in the matchup, No. 9-ranked Dylan Straley accounted for Southern Oregon’s lone win through the first six bouts, earning a 5-0 decision at 157 pounds to halt Humboldt’s early momentum.
The Raiders carried that momentum into Saturday, overwhelming No. 15-ranked Arizona Christian 35-9 in their first home dual of the season. Southern Oregon recorded six bonus-point victories, including pins from Isaac Hampton (125), Avant Stepherson (157), and Adrian Chavez-Morales (184).
