No. 13 Warriors Secure Forfeit Heavy Dual Victory Against NCAA Wildcats

SALEM, Ore. – With half of the weight classes resulting in forfeits, three of which benefited the No. 13-ranked Corban University Men's Wrestling team, one in favor of NCAA Linfield University, and the fifth submitted as a double forfeit, the Warriors were able to cruise to a 37-10 home dual victory after securing weight class wins in four of the five with actual competition taking place at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center earlier tonight. Corban men's wrestling improves to 9-4 on the season in dual results, with one more still to be played out tomorrow night.

"I'm proud of how our guys competed tonight," Warriors' head coach Nolan Harris began. "Even despite a couple of guys out of the lineup, they were able to put points on the board, score bonus, win the dual, and ultimately fulfill our main objective and put on a show for the fans. We're at that point in the season where we're getting each individual what they need in order to be ready for the upcoming conference and national tournaments, and tonight's meet was another step in that direction. We're excited for Senior Night and our final home dual of the season tomorrow night."

It wasn't until the 149-weight class where Warrior Nation supporters in attendance finally got to see a head-to-head bout, as sophomore Jr Downing racked up a technical fall in 4:10 over his Wildcat opponent to give the Navy and Gold their first lead of the night. Back-to-back forfeit wins for Corban at 157 and 165lbs provided the Warriors with a 23-6 lead with four weight classes remaining.

Senior Tyson Stover jumped out to a massive lead over Linfield's Ethan Ensrud to begin 174lbs, yet Ensrud battled back and pulled to within four points before Stover was able to ride out the remaining time for the 12-8 decision. The Wilfcats earned a major decision back at 184lbs thanks to a 9-1 win for Jonathon Fagen, yet this would prove to represent the final weight class victory of the dual for Linfield.

Warriors' junior Asaiah Kamplain had his way at 197lbs by forcing a 4:44 technical fall of Wildcats' Divenson Willis, setting up redshirt junior Antonio Garcia for the final bout of the evening at 285lbs. Just two seconds into the first round, Garcia had already earned a takedown and after numerous four-counts to clinch a technical fall, Garcia held on during his final attempt to pin Linfield's Julian Ortiz and conclude tonight's dual at 37-10, Warriors.
