EUGENE, Ore. – Three matches saw three different winners on Friday afternoon, as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Beach Volleyball season got underway at the Bushnell/Grace Beach Courts. The host Beacons were the only team not to walk away victorious.

The Yotes claimed victory in their first match of the season, led by sweeps at the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 pairs, with the No. 5 duo of Lauren Gauna and Dariya Tlevlessova clinching the victory.
The Eagles were able to avoid a sweep with a victory from Caitlin James and Kylie Lunday at the No. 1 pair, clinching the win with a 15-13 win in the tie breaker.

Defending CCC Champion Corban University (3-1) got their title defense off to a strong start, taking a 4-1 victory from No. 10-ranked College of Idaho in their only match of the day. All four winning pairs came in sweeping fashion with the No. 3 duo of Emmi Marks and Jessica McMillan holding their opponents to just 22 points across the two sets.
The Yotes avoided the sweep in the final flight to finish as the No. 5 team of Gauna and Tlevlessova winning 15-13 in their third-set tiebreak.

The host Beacons were upset in their season opener in a match that came down to the wire. Tied 2-2 with only the No. 5 flight to finish, Ava Hoy and Kali Dransfeldt rallied from a 21-12 loss in the first set to claim the win in extra-points, 18-16 in the tiebreaker.
James and Lunday earned a 22-20, 21-13 win at the No. 1 slot, helping them to a second victory on the day.
