SEATTLE, WA - Day one of CCC beach volleyball action at Alki Beach started with a bang with another near perfect performance from Corban and quite a few surprises in the weather.
What started off as a cloudy and windy morning turned ugly as the torrential, frigid rains beat down on the weary players. Despite the weather, the #10 College of Idaho were able to pull off a win against Bushnell while #2 Corban was able to stay perfect with wins against Northwest and the College of Idaho.
The Yotes started the day with a mighty win over the Beacons but not without No. 4 pairs Sidney Myhre and Laci Jespersen getting a gutsy win in the third set.
While the Warriors had their way against the Eagles, No. 1 pairs Caitlyn James and Kylie Lunday took a long and fierce fight to Emma Bischoff and Megan Dennis to avoid the sweep.
The Warriors and Yotes had to work their way around the one and two pairs, but that didn’t stop the Warriors from strutting their stuff. No. 5 pairs Capri Salmon and Emily Lettenmaier of the Yotes were able to avoid the sweep by taking their match to the final set and secured the vigorous win.
Corban pairs Cammie Masanda and Danae Strokes, Emmi Marks and Jessica McMillan, Alexis Adebodun and Gabriella Engles had perfect runs all day, securing the number two spot in the NAIA for the Warriors.
Round two of Alki Beach action starts at 10am with the Eagles taking on the Beacons.
