REDDING, Calif. – In their first appearance since the first week of March due to the Pacific Northwest spring weather cancelling local tournaments, the Corban University Women's Golf team began the Simpson Spring Invite, hosted by Simpson University, where they have a top 15 golfer entering the final day of play tomorrow morning.

"The warm sunny weather presented the perfect environment for our ladies' team, but unfortunately, we got off to a rough start to spoil a great day and did our best to recover," shared Corban head coach Charlie Marshall earlier today. "I'm very proud of these ladies for staying positive through their rounds. Our gals know they're capable of playing better and expecting to do so."
On the team scoreboard, the Warriors completed a round of 364 to rank sixth of the seven team participating in this week's collegiate tourney. Grace College tops the team leaderboard at +25 overall, followed closely behind by fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Oregon Tech at +26.
In 13th place through one round of action is graduate student Kristin Senatra (+11) to lead the Warriors on an individual basis, with true freshman Yaone Mokgatle (+14) three strokes behind the Corban captain in a four-way tie for 18th place. Freshmen Ashlyn Thomas (+22) and Madelyn Moore (+29) represent the third and fourth bags for the Navy and Gold, respectively, with Thomas in 31st and Moore tied for 35th.
The Corban women's golf team will conclude their trip to Redding tomorrow morning with the final round of play at Riverview Golf & Country Club, beginning at 9am.
