SALEM, Ore. – As announced by Corban University Director of Athletics Bill Pilgeram, Brooke Jones has been selected as the ninth head coach of the Warrior Women's Soccer program following a comprehensive national search, as Jones will look to elevate the Navy and Gold back into national championship contending status and bring both her playing and coaching experience of various levels to the NAIA scene. Since she began playing collegiately in the fall of 2018, Jones has coached youth, club, recreational, semi-professional, professional academy, and private sessions from various levels of both age and experience and will look to build upon her success at the collegiate level as the newest Warrior head coach.
"We are so excited to welcome Brooke to Warrior Nation," shared Pilgeram when asked to highlight the newest addition to his athletics staff. "God is always good and provided us with a very robust field of candidates of which Brooke consistently rose to the top. She has a wealth of both playing and coaching expertise that will guide Corban Women's Soccer into the next chapter."
A Lafayette, Oregon native, Jones began her women's soccer career at Tualatin High School as the one of the team's primary goalkeepers and qualified for the 6A OSAA State Playoffs on three separate occasions, including one championship season where she assisted in leading the Timberwolves to a 6A State Championship in 2014 and a State Runner-Up in 2015. Jones began her collegiate women's soccer playing career at fellow Christian secondary school and NCAA DIII member George Fox University in Newberg, where she spent two seasons before transferring to NCAA DI University of Idaho.
While she was a Bruin, Jones appeared in 20 career games with 15 starts in goal, including 15 contests her sophomore season where she allowed just eight goals in over 1,110 minutes between the posts. In over 1,500 minutes in goal, Jones allowed just ten goals over the course of her two-year GFU career and recorded 80 saves on her way to a minimalistic 0.59 goals against average (GAA) along with five career shutouts.
Following her sophomore year at George Fox, Jones transferred to the University of Idaho to play out the remainder of her collegiate career over the next two school years, where she earned the distinction of Big Sky All-Academic member during the 2020 fall season. To be eligible for the recognition, Jones was required to carry at least a cumulative GPA of 3.2 while remaining eligible during her time at both GFU and as a Vandal.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminology with an emphasis on pre-law studies from the University of Idaho, Jones completed a master's degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University and was then called to an opportunity to play professionally abroad in both Iceland and Portugal before having an opportunity to make use of her newly earned degree within an athletic department.
While athletically she was gifted with an opportunity that very few athletes are provided with out of college, Jones was offered with even more responsibilities as a facility manager for ÍA Akranes FC in Iceland. She spent the next year and a half playing professionally as an eventual League Cup C champion in 2022 and Deild Club runner-up in 2023, assistant coaching for a professional academy team while in Iceland, and learning the in-and-outs of an international soccer program before God called her back to the Willamette Valley in the summer of 2023.
Since her return to Oregon, Jones has served as the Athletic Director for Salem Academy Christian Schools, serving as the primary oversight of all athletic operations for both middle and high school teams offered by the Academy. She has managed the budgets, schedules, coaching staff, social media, athletic facilities, inner-league oversight, game day operation, and transportation since August of 2023, while also serving as both the varsity and junior varsity boys' soccer head coach.
In her spare time during the 2023 calendar year, Jones also supported as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach for Westside Metros, a semi-professional Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) member that operates out of Beaverton. The 2023 season was an incredibly successful one for the Westside Metros, as were dubbed the 2023 Franchise of the Year after securing both a NW Conference Championship and WPSL National Tournament appearance with several NCAA DI and DII players representing the club before pursuing their collegiate playing careers.
"I am incredibly blessed to join the Corban family," Jones shared when she asked what it means to her to become the next head coach of the Warrior women's soccer team. "I have always seen soccer and sports as a direct reflection of God in our lives. There is something special in the student body at Corban with student-athletes hungry to compete, grow, and love alongside each other and show their God-given talents. I am so excited for the future of Corban women's soccer and to just be a small part of these women's lives and their walk with Jesus. I would like to thank all the people who have already made Corban feel like home, especially Bill Pilgeram and Brian Jaworski."
Jones is expected to take her post over the next few weeks as she transitions over from Salem Academy and will immediately begin working alongside the existing rostered student-athletes, signed recruits, and prospective recruits ahead of the 2025 fall season with the intent of developing a competitive program within one of the NAIA's most competitive women's soccer conferences.
