2025 NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championship Recap - Day 2

PARK CITY, Kan. – The stage is set for Championship Saturday at the 2025 NAIA Men’s Wrestling National Championship inside Park City Arena in Park City, Kan. Following two intense days of competition, ten individuals will vie for national titles across ten weight classes, while the battle for team supremacy remains a focal point.

Grand View University continues to showcase its dominance on the national stage, securing six of the ten spots in Saturday’s championship bouts. The Vikings are in a prime position to claim yet another team title, holding a commanding lead in the team standings.

Among the notable storylines heading into the finals is Life University’s (Ga.) Khalil Abdushshakur, a 31-year-old wrestler who returned to the sport after a 7 ½-year absence. Additionally, Central Methodist (Mo.) will have two wrestlers competing in the finals for the first time in program history, with Austin Foye and Donald Griffin looking to etch their names into the program’s record books.

141 Pounds

#1 Carson Taylor (Grand View) vs. #3 Evan Potter (Southern Oregon)
Carson Taylor looks to extend Grand View’s dominance, entering the finals with an 18-6 major decision in the semifinals. Evan Potter edged his way into the finals with a tight 6-4 decision.

157 Pounds

#1 Donald Griffin (Central Methodist) vs. #3 David Rubio (Corban)
Griffin’s championship appearance marks the first finalist in program history for Central Methodist.

Consolation Matches to Watch

Several wrestlers will battle for third place through the consolation bracket. Notably, unseeded wrestlers have emerged as contenders in the wrestlebacks, including multiple unranked competitors who have fought their way into the top eight.
