CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following ten CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 21 – April 28, 2025.
Baseball – Player
Oregon Tech’s Patrick Barry was named the CCC Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Barry, a senior shortstop from Reno, Nev., had tremendous performances on the diamond, leading the Owls to three victories over Bushnell University. He recorded a .800 batting average and a 1.200 slugging percentage with 12 hits, four doubles and a homerun. He also added 12 runs and three RBIs while earning a .857 on base percentage. He held a .909 fielding percentage to round out his impressive weekend, helping OIT secure the third seed in the postseason tournament. Barry leads the conference in hits (81) and runs scored (67).
Baseball – Pitcher
Oregon Tech’s Bronson Chapple was named the CCC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Chapple, a senior from Herriman, Utah, had a fantastic performance on the mound against Bushnell University, leading to a 11-0 shutout. He did not allow a run and let up just two hits while striking out six batters in six innings for a perfect ERA and a .63 WHIP.
Softball – Player
No. 1-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Hailey Seva was named the CCC Softball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Seva, a senior outfielder from Granite Bay, Calif., had an outstanding outing for the Raiders, leading to a series split against No. 13-ranked Eastern Oregon University. She recorded 10 hits, including a double and two homeruns for a .556 batting average and a .944 slugging percentage. Across the weekend she tallied two runs and eight RBIs. She was also perfect on defense to round out her impressive performances, helping SOU to a co-regular season title.
Softball – Pitcher
No. 2-ranked Oregon Tech’s Kacie Schmidt was named the CCC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.
Schmidt, a senior from Beaverton, Ore., had another terrific outing on the mound for OIT against No. 23-ranked College of Idaho. She allowed just three earned runs and seven hits across 15 innings with 19 strikeouts. She recorded a 1.40 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP, helping lead the Owls to the top seed in the postseason tournament.
Men’s Golf – Golfer
No. 9-ranked University of British Columbia’s Aidan Schumer was named the CCC Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Schumer (78-64-68—210), a senior from Columbus, Ohio, completed the conference championship carding a nine under par to claim individual medalist honors. His tournament was highlighted by improving 14 strokes after the first round to tie the CCC single round record (64). He was also named the CCC Co-Player of the Year with the lowest stroke average (70.2) of the season and helped the Thunderbirds to its fifth conference title by 16 strokes.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
No. 1-ranked University of British Columbia’s Elizabeth Labbe was named the CCC Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Labbe (73-68-71—212), a senior from Quebec City, Que., led the whole conference championship carding a seven under par to claim individual medalist honors. She also earned all-conference with the second lowest stroke average (73.7) of the season and helped the Thunderbirds to its fifth conference title by 20 strokes.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Griffen Parsells was named the CCC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Parsells, a senior runner from Rheinland Pfalz, Germany, won the 800m at the Cougar Classic. He defeated 23 other athletes with a time of 1:49.69 to reach an “A” Standard which currently ranks No. 3 in the NAIA this season.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Theo Manuel was named the CCC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Manuel, a sophomore thrower from Abbotsford, B.C., won the javelin at the Pee Wee Halsell Invitational. He recorded a mark of 65.77m to reach an “A” Standard which currently ranks at the top of the NAIA this season.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
The Evergreen State College’s Izabelle Trefts was named the CCC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Trefts, a junior from Milford, Maine, had a successful weekend at the Nancy & Norm Berney Classic. She recorded the second best time in the NAIA (23:01.80) in the 5000m race walk to reach an “A” Standard and set the program record.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Corban University’s Kayla Morgan was named the CCC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Morgan, a junior jumper from Sisters, Ore., won the high jump at the Nancy & Norm Berney Classic. She won with a mark of 1.78m for an “A” Standard which ranks No. 2 in the NAIA this season. She reached a personal best by over three inches to shatter her own program record.
