CORVALLIS, Ore. – The (RV) Lewis-Clark State College baseball team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for March 31 – April 6, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Lewis-Clark State (24-10, 20-5 CCC) continued their impressive season with a 5-0 week.
The Warriors started with a midweek nonconference matchup against Whitman College, earning a 11-4 victory. Ike George had a perfect game at the plate while Sheward and Cabrera each drove in three runs. LC State's nine pitchers combined to strike out 13 batters with Joey Estrada, Zak Sullivan and Jace Taylor each striking out three. The Warriors set a single-game record with nine different pitchers and scored 10 unanswered runs in the contest.
On Saturday, LC State earned two seven inning wins to open its conference series against Warner Pacific University. In the first 17-0 victory, the team added 18 total hits and George tallied three RBIs for the Warriors. Jadon Williamson earned his fifth win after five shutout innings. He allowed just three hits and struck out five. In the second 14-3 victory, Charlie Updegrave went 5-for-5 with five RBIs. His 40th home run puts him at the top of the CCC for the season and in the career ranks. Jantzen Lucas struck out seven in his five innings with just one walk.
On Sunday, LC State kept it rolling with two more defeats over the Knights. In the first 10-6 victory George led the Warriors with two runs, two hits, and three RBIs while Kolby Solomon got the win on the mound. In the second seven inning 14-3 win, Jakob Marquez led the Warriors with three runs, three hits and four RBIs. Estrada got the win on the mound while Landon Webb did not allow a run and struck out two batters in four innings.
Next weekend, LC State will host College of Idaho. The Warriors went 2-1 when the teams met earlier this season.
